Another podium finish for Russian Time

Raffaele Marciello scored another podium finish and tops the drivers' championship after a dramatic feature race at Austria's Red Bull Ring.

Both Marciello and team mate Artem Markelov were part of a lead battle in a 40-lap race that saw mixed conditions and two safety car interruptions, the second of which transformed the order and handed a 1-2 to Pertamina Campos Racing with Kiwi Mitch Evans taking victory.

It was a bitter/sweet afternoon for Russian Time. After a safety car when Pierre Gasly spun, Markelov caught the leading trio of Antonio Giovinazzi, Lello and Luca Ghiotto, but then lost time in the pits. With no brake temperature, he damaged the car against the pit exit barrier.

Raffaele Marciello: «We were competitive right from the start and I managed to lead the race when I passed Giovinazzi at Turn 1 after the first restart. The second safety car put me behind the Campos cars but I'm pleased with a podium and the fact that I'm now leading the series.»

Artem Markelov: « It was tricky when the rain started but we stayed out with slicks, the pace was good and I got up to P4. Under the second safety car when we changed tyres, I was stuck behind my team mate in the pitlane, then had a jack problem and lost all my brake temperature, which caused me to hit the barrier and damage the car. I never give up though and will push hard to score points tomorrow.»

Svetlana Strelnikova (Team principal): «Congratulations to Lello on his third podium of 2016. Artem drove fantastically well with slicks on a wet track but was unlucky with his pit stop. We have extended our teams' championship lead to 21 points and both drivers will be pushing hard tomorrow. We clearly have strong pace here in Austria.»
