Hungaroring Race 2

Artem Markelov and Raffaele Marciello achieved another double points finish for Russian Time in the Budapest sprint race with the young Russian driver finishing fourth and his Italian team mate, eighth.

Marciello made a good start from fifth on the grid but was forced wide at Turn 1 and then had Arthur Pic spin in front of him in Turn 2, costing him a number of places. Markelov, meanwhile, picked his way through the chaos after starting ninth on the grid and was sixth when the field lined up behind the resulting safety car. He then drove a strong race, passing Mitch Evans and finishing close behind Racing Engineering podium finishers Jordan King and Norman Nato.

Artem Markelov: «There was a lot of action on the first lap and I found a way through the trouble that cost Lello time at Turn 2. I passed Mitch into Turn 1 and then closed in on the Racing Engineering cars. I couldn't stay close enough through the last corner to challenge them, but I was happy to take my biggest points score since Monaco.»

Raffaele Marciello: «At the first corner I was forced off the circuit but managed to get back on without losing too much time. Then, at Turn 2, Pic spun right in front of me. I had to lift off the throttle and I missed him by the narrowest of margins but again had to go wide and lost a lot of momentum. The car felt good but with no strategy or pit stops in the Sunday race, it was tough to do any better than score the single point.»

Svetlana Strelnikova (Team principal): «We have had some issues throughout the weekend but overall the performance level was good and we scored points with both cars in both races. We head to Germany next weekend looking to do the same at the end of a really busy phase of the championship. Lello is still just 22 points off the series lead.»
