After his sprint race win at Red Bull Ring five days ago, Artem Markelov (1m39.062s) will start fifth on the grid as the F2 field does battle at Silverstone, the home of Briitsh motorsport, in round six.
The 3.661-mile circuit presents a high-speed challenge and both Luca Ghiotto and Artem looked well set after recording third and fifth quickest times in Thursday practice. Unfortunately for Luca, qualifying did not go so well and the Italian will start 13th on the grid in tomorrow's feature race.
Pole position was claimed by championship leader Charles Leclerc (1m38.427s), ahead of second place man Oliver Rowland, and Norman Nato.
Artem Markelov: «We have shown strong pace so far and I will be looking to keep my strong championship challenge on track starting from row three. Although Silverstone is high speed it can be tricky to overtake and race strategy can often play an important role here.»
Luca Ghiotto: «Third quickest tiime in practice was encouraging but things did not come together for me in practice and it will be a tough race from further down the grid. Hopefully we can work a decent race strategy and I will be able to make a strong recovery, as I did in the last race in Austria.»
Svetlana Strelnikova (Team principal): «We are happy with Artem's performance level in qualifying but will work hard to try to locate the source of Luca's issues and hopefully facilitate the possibility of a recovery in the race. He really showed his character in Austria and we are once again targeting strong races for both drivers.»
