Silverstone race 1

Russian Time drivers Artem Markelov and Luca Ghiotto both turned in fighting drives in Silverstone's feature race round of the F2 championship to finish fourth and sixth respectively.

Both Artem and Luca ran option/prime tyre strategies, pitting on laps six and seven respectively to go onto the harder compound Pirelli tyre. Having dropped one slot at the start, Artem picked up two positions in the race while Luca mirrored his fine sprint race drive in Austria by gaining six positions after starting 12th following a difficult qualifying session.

The race was won by Prema's Charles Leclerc, ahead of Pertamina Arden's Norman Nato and DAMS driver Oliver Rowland.

Artem Markelov: «I didn't make the greatest start and lost out to Matsushita, but managed to get past him quite quickly. I then closed on the group ahead but Silverstone is a very quick track and it's quite tough staying close through the high-speed section to make use of DRS on Hangar Straight. I managed to pass King into Stowe at the second attempt and I'm pleased to have cemented my third place in the championship.»

Luca Ghiotto: «The car felt better than in qualifying yesterday and I was able to drive an attacking race. I was quickly up into the top 10, then managed to pass Latifi and then King with a good move into Village, getting myself into the top six. That was important to give myself a decent starting position for tomorrow's sprint race, when hopefully I can score more strong points.»

Svetlana Strelnikova (Team principal): «Congratulations to both drivers on two strong drives. Artem keeps his strong championship performance going, just six points behind second place man Oliver Rowland, and the second impressive race drive from Luca inside a week puts him back into the Drivers' championship top five as well as keeping Russian Time battling for top honours in the Team's championship. Both are now well positioned for another strong challenge in tomorrow's sprint race.»\
