Two RT drivers on podium in the second race!

Luca Ghiotto and Artem Markelov both finished on the podium in Silverstone's F2 Sprint race, with Luca second from third on the grid and Artem third after starting fifth. The result moves Artem into second place in the Drivers' championship and Russian Time back to within four points of the series lead.

The race saw a close fight between the DAMS and Russian Time cars, with Canadian Nicholas Latifi taking the win but Oliver Rowland finishing out of the points after receiving a 5s time penalty for putting Artem on the grass. A late race Safety Car ensured a dramatic finish, with third-placed Rowland backing up the field behind him – making Artem vulnerable to attack from the cars behind. He handled the situation perfectly, passing Rowland at the same place he had been forced off the track early in the race.

Luca Ghiotto: «After yesterday, when my pace was as good as anyone's, I thought I could win today, so I'm not entirely happy with second. But today I didn't have the same pace, which may have been down to the tyres. Of the top five I was definitely struggling most, so I think second is the best I could have done. I knew that Rowland, behind me, had a penalty, but it was still important to stay second on the road and hold off the cars behind him.»

Artem Markelov: «It feels good to move into second place in the Driver's championship! I knew that Rowland had a penalty and so I wasn't risking too much trying to pass. Behind the Safety Car though, he slowed down to try to make things difficult for me but then made a mistake at Turn 5 and I was able to get finally pass. I want to thank the whole team for a strong weekend.»

Svetlana Strelnikova (Team principal): «I'm delighted with our first double podium of the season – both drivers and the whole team did a fantastic job! Luca fought back well after a difficult qualifying session, taking 20 points from the weekend. He drove an intelligent race today, as did Artem -- exercising some caution with Rowland but getting past when things were made difficult for him. Congratulations to the team on outscoring our rivals at Silverstone.»
